Summary
The clumsy “Wreck-It Ralph” has been the villain of his video game for thirty years, destroying a residential building while “Fix-It Felix” uses his powerful hammer to rebuild what Ralph has destroyed. Wreck-It Ralph longs to be the “good guy” for once, but the problem is, nobody loves a “bad guy”. During the thirtieth anniversary party of the game, Ralph isn’t invited to the party since nobody in the penthouse likes him. Ralph decides to win a medal to become a hero and travels to another game called “Hero's Duty” to prove to everyone in the penthouse that even villains can be good! He sneaks into the game with a simple plan to win a medal, but soon wrecks everything, and accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade called the “cy-bug”. While on the run from Hero’s Duty, Ralph accidentally crashes his plane in a kart-racing game called “Sugar Rush”. There he meets “Vanellope von Schweetz”, a young troublemaking "glitch" from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a good guy. Can Ralph be a hero and save the arcade before it’s too late?
Thoughts
Did you know that the creators of many of the world's most well known animated movies have hidden secret meanings, images, and/or characters into their films. However, as far as conspiracy theories go, they are not all that bad. For example, in many of the animated movies today, huge companies like Disney or Pixar hide some interesting "Easter eggs" into their films. An Easter egg is an intentional inside joke, hidden message, or feature in a work such as a computer program, video game, movie, book, or crossword puzzle. The name has been said to evoke the idea of a traditional Easter egg hunt. In the film Wreck-It-Ralph, there are even some Easter eggs you probably didn't notice while you watched the funny flick. So, I did some research and I found two hidden characters to share with you!
- While the video game world from Wreck It Ralph is totally different than the other worlds other Disney and Pixar movies take place in, characters can still exist in that world. For example, Maximus the horse and Vladmir (the guy from the pub) from Tangled both make very sneaky appearances in Wreck-It-Ralph, and they're not the only ones! "Tiny" the Dinosaur from Meet the Robinsons is also hidden within the film.
- You can even see a "Missing Dog" poster in the picture below the maximus and Tiny character picture. That missing dog is actaully "Bolt the dog" from Disney/Pixar's film Bolt.
Extras
For those of you that haven't watched Wreck-It-Ralph, you're probably wondering "why should I watch this movie?" Well, there's several reasons why you should watch this new animated work!
First off, Wreck-It-Ralph is a unique masterpiece. What I mean by this, is that the movie is centered on video game charcters "living behind the screen". This movie kind of reminds of a child's imagination as well. For example, as a kid you might've wondered why your toys couldn't move or speak. You might've asked yourself; "if I turn my back, would my toys move? Are they alive?" It's a silly thought, but this film takes that mindset and puts it on a whole new virtual level (since Toy Story's idea had already been done). Another reason you should watch this film is because not only is it funny and entertaining, but it teaches you some valuable life lessons as well. Refer to Ralph's quote in the slideshow below as well as other lessons in this film (I don't want to spoil the message of the film for those of you that haven't seen it yet). And last but not least, you should watch this film because it's likely to contain some of the video game characters that are familiar to you. Some of the famous video game characters featured in the film include Clyde from Pacman, Bowser from Super Mario Bros. and Dr. Eggman from Sonic The Hedgehog.
I hope you enjoyed this week's blog and stay tuned for more movie moments!
