Running not only excites me, but it reminds me of my track and field days in middle school. I loved track and field back then; I was a sprinter more than a long-distance runner though.
Today, I ran on the Iron Horse Trail with my fitness class. At first I thought that the weather was too windy, humid, and wet for any running activities and I was feeling pretty lazy myself, but soon after I started running I felt thrilled. Sprinting as fast as you can on, what feels like, a never-ending trail is pretty tiresome, but somewhat magical in itself! I had a lot of fun and I hope to continue to bike, jog, and sprint on that same trail everyday this summer just like last year.

Can We Auto-Correct Humanity?
In today's blog, I'm going to show you what some of my thoughts, ideas, and reactions are to the following motivational, or rather, empowering public service announcement video. I want you to ask yourself if you agree with this video? What are your thoughts?
Thoughts...
- I like this video because it speaks the truth.
- I believe that the message in this video is really deep.
- While social media claims to connect us, it really doesn’t is what he’s saying really and he is absolutely right.
- Trying to constantly fit in on social media is annoying, I agree (ie. too many social media networks such as Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.).
- Humans are losing their “touch” or their connection.
- I find that sometimes it’s hard to have a conversation with someone, eye to eye, without having an “awkward silence” and result in looking at our devices to fill in the holes of our emotionless conversation or connection. This is proof that social media is taking over.
- However, in some ways, I disagree with the fact that social media is actually failing to connect us because, in my case, I’ve actually gotten closer with some of my friends because of Snapchat, but I understand that social media is really superficial (ie. your Facebook friends are usually not all your friends; people define you by the amount of likes you get on a photo and the number of friends you have; people don’t get to know YOU!)
- This video is like a PSA but it’s also like a “poetry slam”
- What about the attention (ie. views, likes, shares, etc.) this man is getting for this video? Is he being a hypocrite or just to get his message across to the world?
- Things in the video that were effective: the music, the rhyming he used, the scenes (ie. restaurant scene, water flowing, sunset, man on his laptop, etc.). These things were effective because he used these tools to make the audience feel a certain emotion and take what he was saying seriously.
- I liked how he used effective examples (ie. number of likes defines a person nowadays, or how we are looking at our phones more than we are looking at eachother) to get his point across.

This video really spoke to me so, first, I want to thank my English teacher Mrs. Reburn-Weir for showing me such an inspirational video. I've watched it at home, and even showed my family members as well. After watching this video, I felt inspired to become more social and think positively about my life such as enjoying the happy moments. So what if I have four assignments, two essays and an exam all in the same week? I know I'll get through it and enjoy the outcome of my accomplishments when that week is over. In fact, right now, I want you to think of a moment in your life where you felt proud of yourself. Whether it's the moment when you got an A+ on your math test, or that time when you got that basketball into the hoop with 3 seconds left until the game was done, or how about that moment when you threw your garbadge into the trash can from a far distance and it actually went in? It doesn't matter how "small" you think your accomplishments are, but I want you to remember how you felt when you accomplished what you have. That feeling is what makes you smile, feel proud, and what motivates you to keep living life; you are a human being and you matter!
I want everyone who watched this video to know and understand that after watching this video you'll probably feel guilty for being "involved" in social networking. However I want you to know that an individual does not need to delete their social networks or destroy their cell phones after they watch this video. The message in this video is simple: be balanced, be mindful, be present, be here, and experience the happiness in life because that’s what it means to be a human being; interact, love, laugh, live, and don’t forget to smile. So tomorrow, don't take a picture of your food, don't tweet about what you are doing in that very moment, and don't take a picture while you are on that rollercoaster. You are supposed to be living in the moment and enjoying every second; not tweeting about it.
