I believe that by teaching our friends and family that the physical environment is fragile and indispensable we can begin fixing the problems that threaten it. As I have mentioned in my other blogs, we tend not to think about what we take for granted and the effects that pollution is doing to our environment such as the water we drink, the air we breath, and the food we eat. Each of these items, vital to our lives, we waste, pollute or abuse without much thought or regard for the consequences. I have outlined some things that we can do to help save the environment in my previous blogs as well. All I want is for people to be grateful and cherish the resources that they have because many people in other countries do not have resources such as clean water, or clean air. For instance, Beiijing has such high levels of air pollution that most citizens must wear masks outside of their homes to be able to breathe safely. We must come together and make change in order to save the environment. Afterall, "man does not belong to Earth, Earth belongs to man" which means that this Earth is not for us to pollute and destroy as we please, it is for us to treasure and take care of so we can pass it on to future generations which leads me to talk about a video called "Dear Future Generations: Sorry".
I am going to start off by saying that the video above is so powerful. I could not say what he said in any other way. This was absolutely eye-opening for me and if you have not seen the video yet I highly recommend that you spend six minutes and three seconds of your life to listen to the truth about this world; our world. We hold the world in our hands and what do we do? We crush it. However, the Earth has not been "crushed" yet and I refuse to believe that it is too late to start saving the environment now. Appreciate the nature around you and the resources that you have so that you can make change in the world for we must unite and put the money on the table aside. We must be aware. We must take action. We can still make change. YOU can be the change.
Dear Future Generations,
I think I speak for the rest of us when I say,
sorry, sorry we left you our mess of a planet.
Sorry that we were too caught up in our own doings to do something.
Sorry we listened to people who made excuses,
to do nothing.
I hope you forgive us,
we just didn't realize how special the earth was,
like a marriage going wrong,
we didn't know what we had until it was gone.
